Phèdre, by Jean Racine

Phèdre is Theseus' second wife. Unfortunately, she cannot chase away the criminal love she has for Hippolyte, the son of her husband and an Amazon. Ready to let herself die, she is dissuaded from doing so by her nurse Oenone. But the news of the king's death spreads and Phèdre lets his feelings be expressed to Hippolyte. The latter, already troubled by the love he feels for Aricie and convinced that she hates him, is terrified in front of Phèdre and chases her with horror. Humiliated, she will try to get revenge while still trying to flex him.

But Theseus is not dead. How will the dishonored Phaedrus react? And what welcome will she give him?

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

Dark and sublime drama of passions and impossible love, fatality and power of the gods, Phèdre presents a distraught woman in her fury to love who can only precipitate the fate of all the characters towards a tragic end.
