MOLIERE

A youthful piece (1659) full of rhythm and virtuosity. Traditional pattern of the Italian coins of the Commedia dell'arte. All the founding farce of Molière's works is there. We reinvent it, we keep it. Certain scenes are interrupted or linked by points of suspension, sources of improvisation. It is up to us to keep the thread of genius.

Lucile loves Valère and is loved by him. But her bossy father doesn't want his daughter to marry the one she loves. The young woman plays the patient, hoping to find a complacent doctor who advises her to settle in the fresh air; there, her lover can join her. It is Sganarelle, servant of Valère, who becomes a doctor in spite of himself and will have to cunning to counter the father. The bride plays the sick, the servants are cunning and the real doctors are false: the farce is brief and removed, for the pleasure of laughing.

Molière again pinpoints the abuse of power and the claims of medicine.
